When I took my daughter to Disney when she was ten years old, she really wanted to participate in the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. I simply could not justify spending hundreds of dollars to sit in a salon at the parks and then have her walk around being uncomfortable for the day. It works for some people, but it wasn’t going to work for us.
Instead, we both put together some Disney bounding outfits so she could still dress up each day. It doesn’t take much just some colorful shorts, t-shirts, and accessories.

Disney has a rule about adults not being able to dress up in Disney costumes because they can be confused for cast members. But, there are many adults who are young at heart and love to dress up.
Disney bounding started as an option to mimic Disney characters in a more casual way. It generally might be wearing the same colors or accessories that the character usually dresses in.
But, Disney bounding doesn’t just need to be for adults! Kids can also use this casual way to dress up at the parks.

I love seeing kids walk around Disney in their most beautiful princess dresses. However, I also think how uncomfortable they must be in hot, itchy costumes all day long.
Disney bounding is the happy alternative that allows kids to pay homage to their favorite characters without sacrificing comfort. Disney is the one place where you want to make sure you have comfortable shoes and breathable clothes when it gets super hot.
Without being comfortable, kids will complain and get tired, which can make for some unhappy moments for everyone involved. Simply put, uncomfortable kids = unhappy parents.

Ariel from The Little Mermaid
Ariel is an easy Disney bounding for kids idea because the colors are so distinguishable. A pair of green shorts and a purple shirt are simple enough to find online. I particularly like this lightweight mermaid dress for kids that can be paired it with a starfish headband.
Belle from Beauty and the Beast
It doesn’t take much to dress like Belle from Beauty and the Beast, just a yellow dress will do. I like cotton dresses for the parks because they are fairly breathable in the hot weather. Alternatively, you could go for a blue and white dress for Belle’s casual outfit in the movie.
Moana from Moana
You can actually buy a Moana costume online, which wouldn’t be the worst thing for the park. Disney bounding is great though because it puts together an outfit that can be used outside of the park and not just as a costume.
These tan shorts can be paired with most anything to create many different outfits. You will get a lot more bang for your buck buying single items over a full costume.
Snow White from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves
This is one of my daughter’s all-time favorite movies and another character that is easy Disney bounding for kids. All it takes are some yellow shorts, a blue top, and a red bow to complete this outfit.
Jesse from Toy Story
Jesse is a cute character from the Toy Story series that is easily replicated with her cowboy pants and distinguishable red hat. If you don’t want to go all out with cow print pants, some jean shorts will do.

Minnie Mouse
Minnie Mouse is my personal favorite character and ends up being my Halloween costume every single year. With an abundance of Minnie Mouse ears to choose from, this one isn’t hard to do.
A simple polka dot skirt will keep things cool in the hot day. I love the classic Minnie ears but you could do all sorts of styles to fit your preference.
Rey from Star Wars
Another Disney bounding for kids idea is Rey from Star Wars. It is a perfect outfit to wear when visiting Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios. She keeps things light and flowy with a little bit of edge.

Cinderella is a timeless classic with minimal accessories that make this an easy look to replicate. Complete the ensemble with a simple up do that looks just like Cinderella.
The most recognizable part of Cinderella, however, is your glass slippers! Keep it casual and comfortable with glittery Crocs or sparkly tennis shoes.
